Indoor Courses

Aim to Improve

Delivered at the Red Goat Climbing Wall or FreeKlime in York where the focus is on bouldering. Roped climbing is delivered at The Big Depot in Leeds.

Indoor courses focus on technique and efficient movement. All sessions are tailored to the needs and objectives of the client. Therefore the emphasis may vary from the sample programme below.

Session 1 - Introduction to wall climbing, including safety and etiquette. Observation of ability and climbing skill. This will then guide initial coaching in technique, movement, problem solving and training drills.
Session 2 - Extension of the previous session. Concentration on mastering movement and flow on the wall. Introduction of further skills when appropriate.
Session 3 - Consolidation of climbing skill, additional range of climbing technique and movement. Advice for future progression and training.

For more experienced climbers, sessions will identify areas of weakness and goal planning. Introduction of advanced techniques and training/practice strategies, including using the traversing wall, systems board and off wall training aids.

The course is normally delivered in hourly sessions. With time given in between to consolidate skills before moving on.

Roped climbing includes training and advice on equipment use, grades, safe belaying, route skills and climbing technique, using auto belays, top ropes and lead climbing.  All equipment other than shoes and chalk bags are included in the cost.
